Walterjn Subsonic Seriously, one of the best leaders I ever met was a 2 star 130 driver. Great guy that I would follow anywhere. Pretty sure he understood the value of teamwork, and was also loved by his crew. He might be the guy in charge, yet he ain't the only one working to get the aircraft where it needs to go.
rsvman2 Unpopular opinion, i'm sure, but I think the original is on the short list of the most overrated movies of all time.
johnnydoom rsvman2 You are not alone. I loved the flight segments and that made it an enjoyable movie for me. The plot/story part was less than compelling. I hadn’t watch the original since it was in the theater until last week when my wife and son wanted to watch it in preparation for the new one. It’s even less entertaining on the small screen to me.
garyt1957 rsvman2 Unpopular opinion, i'm sure, but I think the original is on the short list of the most overrated movies of all time. C'mon, you didn't like it when the guys got all oiled up to play volleyball?
sdandrea1 Subsonic Ship drivers and Army Colonels were our best leaders during my tenure. They understood. Every O6 Fighter jock that rotated through our command was juicing his way to promotion as Priority #1.
Rickochet Subsonic You have a better chance of finding a unicorn than a humble fighter pilot. You definitely have to have a certain type of attitude to be a top gun fighter pilot.
Rickochet Rickochet You definitely have to have a certain type of attitude to be a top gun fighter pilot. Pulling 7 g's when flying isn't as much fun as most might think.
Bravopilot Rickochet Plus they moved TOPGUN to Fallon (NV), nothing there, not sexy San Diego. Talk to those guys weekly in my current job. Good guys.
Rickochet Bravopilot Plus they moved TOPGUN to Fallon (NV), nothing there, not sexy San Diego. Our Air Guard unit used to send our RF4C crews to Nellis AFB, NV in the 80's for Red Flag exercises.
Bravopilot Rickochet Yes, flown a many Red Flags, and now they do more at Red Flag Alaska--can't miss off many people with the noise up there
sdandrea1 SWMBO and I went to see the flick tonight. $7 per seat in reclining chairs was almost as pleasant a surprise as free refills on popcorn and soda. With this and gas at $4.39, we might move here! Anyway, the movie was great!
johnnydoom Went last night with the wife and son and we all enjoyed the movie. I'll agree with some others and say that, for me, it was better than the original. I liked the actors playing the young pilots and Tom Cruise made me believe the old guy still has it. Glad we watched it while it is still in theaters - I have to believe that makes a significant difference in the viewing experience.
johnnydoom Bravopilot even when they point out the goofy parts, still entertaining There were numerous goofy parts even to these completely ignorant eyes. but Bravopilot music, and jets are always good stuff
