What would you pay to use Trackman?

On a daily basis at an indoor facility 24/7.

I wouldn't poo poo launch monitors if I was a serious competitor. I'm just a hobbyist and I'll never get to a repeatable enough swing for the numbers to do me much good. I enjoy experimenting without needing immediate feedback or gathering data to analyze and I play more to get away from work and chores as I do for the enjoyment of good scores. I do enjoy good (relative) scores and do stress over bad scores, but that's just a part of the game for me and not something that I care to benchmark and make more efficient. I'm not trying to solve the problem. I long ago accepted that I would never dedicate enough time to it to do that.

I might have said that before, unless its a bay set up by Trackman for Trackman then forget it. When they set it up there is enough room and it works. Other than that, taking the unit indoors it doesn't work as well. There IS an indoor mode you can select but its still not good... there is never enough room.

BUT folks tend to be believers cuz they want to believe....not in a specific situation but overall. LM's outdoors fine with the ball you play with indoors suck. What does Typhoon use?

Where I work indoors we have GC Quads and I use those We don’t own Trackman, too much money. Outside I have a Trackman unit I use from TM. Both Trackman and the GC Quad give me nearly identical numbers. Pretty nice to see. The units use different ways to track but again, nearly identical.

We have simulators by “About golf”. The simulators are dead on accurate because we use them to play on as well as customers. You don’t get as much as info as you do from the Quad, or Trackman but it is a golf simulator, not a launch monitor. People use them to play a round of golf on.

What’s a shame are places that don’t calibrate their equipment. I’m talking golf stores for the most part. Their equipment gets beat up from the public randomly going on a bay and flailing away. People don’t know how far they hit the ball anyway and now they go to golf Galaxy, hit on an inaccurate system and they think that’s how far they hit .

Typhoon I'd love to get an hour on an accurate launch monitor just to see what kind of numbers I get with everything in my bag. Spin distances, angles, club speed, ball speed, etc... I understand that feel is good, yet so is hard information. Seeing how I am still learning, I'm working more on feel than looking for the numbers. Due to archery, I got pretty good at estimating distances, mostly I use that ability from where I am to the pin. On the range it's a little more difficult due to distance from the ball.

For the average golfer, maybe 50 balls will work to find the 'average' and 'longest'. I play with guys
who have played for 50 years who couldn't make an accurate stab at it. 🙄

They play the same course all the time so they just know what club to hit from certain spots. They don’t know if that spot is 150…. “ I hit 8 iron from the rock on the side of the fairway”. Remember when there were no 100, 150 amd 200 yard markers? You had to just eyeball the distance, couldn’t really put a number on it, you looked and pulled a club to hit.
But at these private clubs… the first response is what I get from the members when I ask them.

So I started using the Trackman facility after hours, which is kind of weird being
in someone's expensive business and nobody around.
Anyways, the other day I thought I would see if I could get my TSi 2 driver dialed in.
With 16 possible hosel adjustments I tried them all and kept track of what positions gave the
best readings in regards to dynamic launch, ball spin, distance, direction etc.
It took a little while hitting 3-5 balls in each position, but C-3 seemed to give me the best results.

Played at The Ledges yesterday, from the whites it plays about 6200yds., only missed 2 fwys which
is very rare for me and shot 83 with 4 three putts and a 4 putt....greens were super slow (getting ready to punch).
For me Trackman definitely has some merit and can be a useful fitting tool, proof is in the results!😁

Maybe you are using the wrong machine, for the wrong club. 😃☺😉

C-3 had a lower ball flight and more roll out, before I tended to hit my driver a little
too high......and the longest distance to fully answer your question!😉

Last I checked, learning how far and how left or right the ball goes comes with the price of a bucket of balls at the range, a club membership, paid greens fee, etc.

But yeah. Let me fork over 50 bucks to have a computer tell me what I already know. lol 😂

True dat. I was on the range today with the assistant pro, who can knock the snot out of the ball. We were
just jacking around doing ' hit the 9 windows ' and the only shot he had any trouble with was the
high and straight one. All other shots on command - easy. 🏌🏌

To me Trackman or the like is a fitting or diagnostic tool. I don't feel I get the distance with my driver that I should, but I don't why. I'd like to see my spin numbers, are they too high? Maybe a low spin driver will help me. Are they too low? Maybe I need more spin. Sure I could buy multiple drivers but that would be way more expensive than an hour on TM. I don't have Par4QC money, you know.

That's what's cool about the place I started using, they have a rack full of about 30-40 shafts and various heads
( Ping,Calloway,Cobra etc.) with quick fit adaptors, so you can try a bunch of different combinations.
So far,the Cobra Radspeed iron and a Catalyst (r) shaft gave me my best distance #'s, felt good at impact too!

Did a ton of trade-ins at RBG; usually every fall. Clean out all the older stuff, as long as it's on their list. Had a ton of credits all winter, so, got some of the newer toys to try out, while they were discounted. Still have a bit of credit left; just couldn't spend it all.
