darpar Well, there is certainly some degree of technology used to create that product, but the absolute reality is quite easy to point out.
First off, imagine the guy, perhaps even someone on this forum, who is using one all by himself to tinker or tone a swing or a swing thought. Paying for the "privilege" is not a factor. In fact, your reply to me above is a near perfect example. You loosen up and then go the "technology" and hit your first measurable ball. Keeping in mind that I don't care what you are looking at, as you said, "swing path, angle of attack or God forbid, even ball flight.
So, you either believe you have a problem that exists OR the "technology" points out something that YOU feel might be askew. Let's just take the low hanging fruit here and that you discover that your swing path is Outside-In 2 degrees.
At least that is what the "technology" just told you.
You stand back, read everything on the screen and think..... "Hmmm, I thought I nutted that one. It felt pretty good"
Your next shot to fix it tells almost the entire story.
You do anything and almost EVERYTHING to make the previous Outside-In swing path register better or, more to your liking. So, you make a pointed effort to swing at this second ball MORE from the inside. Even Inside-Out.
As you stand there, you get a better reading as you had hoped, Now, that completely contrived swing, DIFFERENT from your normal/traditional swing shows inside to outside 1 degree.
You realize a sense of accomplishment as you BELIEVE that this is how a clubhead should approach the ball. Keep in mind it was a swing effort that is not normal to you and changed other readings on the "technology" you are using. But you looked at the swing path FIRST as that is what you were trying to eradicate from the first ball.
You have learned nothing, but how to get the machine to read a more accomplished number for your effort.
"Technically" you could have been set up or addressing the ball LEFT of the intended flight line that the "technology" was set up for. In that case, a perfect swing path would ALWAYS appear to be across the target line. The "technology" doesn't know what you are aiming at, nor do you know what IT is aiming at.
Sorry for the lengthy reply, but two more quick points.
Swing Speed. You hit your first ball with your 5 iron and it reads, 70mph or whatever. Please tell me that there is NOT A SINGLE GOLFER ON THE PLANET that will see that and literally swing harder on the next shot, just to get a bigger number or to "show the machine". Everyone does it, men more than women... The same human nature that has each and every one of us, when using a power drill to squeeze the trigger two or three times before doing the task that you got it out for in the first place.... hahaha
The "technology"..... "READS" that your last 5 iron shot soared nicely and settle at 170 yards, a little high perhaps, nothing of course that a heavier shaft or a change of loft couldn't "fix". I mean, after all, the "technology" told you so... REALITY however showed that the ball actually only went 12 feet, or the depth of the net. I guess we need to hit a few more balls to get THAT part of the "technology" _to read that number and ball flight _ more accurately, but of course it never does because it CALCULATES or guesses.
