i dont have the tool to adjust a clevelanc black driver. what can i use instead?

The issue is that horrendous wrench and screw that has a square bit. I bought an aftermarket adapter just to deal with this problem, as it came with a screw that is compatible with a star bit wrench. Unfortunately the screw head was warped🤬. The newer cleveland heads have switched over....I would start with seeing if you can buy a srixon screw and go from there.

Whatever engineer thought it would be a good idea to go with that square bit should be kicked very hard in the jimmy!

Some of the golf stores sell wrenches that will work with that head. It might be a Callaway or a Ping or a TM but it would work. You need to hear the single “ click” so you know it’s done right.

I would take the club to a golf store and tell them you lost the wrench and could they please tighten it for you. We do it all the time for people at our place. Then ask them about buying your own wrench so you don’t have to ask them every time.

Typhoon Although I do sometimes use a wrench for an adapter, where the wrench may be from another brand, I do often wonder if all these adapters are set for the same ft./lb.. Are we over-torquing some, or maybe under-torquing some??

colej I figure you should know better than that. Torque wrenches can be preset, if not adjustable.
I read of people having heads come loose, and always wondered if it was the wrench, not the operator.

I guess the only real way to know is to try different wrenches and check them with a torque wrench. I have a TM, Ping and Cally Torx wrenches and use them in different heads all the time and have never had one come loose. All of them take a pretty good last twist to get them to click. One of my geezer buds doesn't have the strength to get his to click so I have to do it for him.

Well Rex, if you read any service manual (cat, bobcat, Toyota, etc) there’s always section with bolt torque specs per the fastener. It changes when you get into long threaded head bolts and the like. Most torque charts it lists the fastener, grade, thread, then the torque spec.

That’s why I’m thinking a T25 fastener at 20mm in length isn’t going to vary between manufacturers?

I interpreted the issue about torque differences between brands of clubs as not being about the screw but about the torque setting built into different brand wrenches when it "clicks."

I read where they are different torque. I’ve never had one loosen up on me though as long as I get one click.
