Rickochet That was my game plan...

After my shoulders injury I wasn't even able tot lift my left arm horizontally (45°). So I started tot walk the course with my mates carrying 2 clubs: GW + putter. Dropped a ball at the fringe of the green tot start and gradually added distance. After a while I added a 6 hybrid, and dropped at driver distance, getting to the flag with punch shots. It took me 3 months to start playing from the tees and with a full bag. It really helped me to keep the moral up to do my practice on the course (and daily physio). I still remember the first par 3 in regulation: 100m from the winter tees over the water with a punch shot of my 6 hybrid and playing birdy.

candukid might be exaggerating a bit but it’s a long course about 6500 from the whites. They have senior tees but they are afterthought small patches, some combined wit the ladies tees at around 5300. My son in law just got the TM irons he ordered in Oct. they sent a pw, 9, 8 and two weeks later the rest of the irons. He’s excited and I don’t won’t to bust his bubble by asking to check all his irons but I’d bet there not perfect if they where built piecemeal.

That's why I said 'basically the same' - there will always be minor differences between types of ball. The main determinants of distance/carry will be ball speed, launch angle and spin, with the design and construction of the ball having much less impact for most current/recent models of golf ball. (I suspect that there would be more potential for difference in performance if comparing a current-model golf ball against something designed 30+ years ago.)

Let's assume.....
I have a swing speed of 90. I hit every ball dead center with my driver, every hit. Every tee shot lands at 225 yds..
Physics says bullshit, if anyone thinks they will land that ball farther.

Launch angle and spin might determine where the ball stops, along with makeup of the ball itself.

I love these type discussions amongst us golfers, from 7-35 handicap. They cannot even insert their tee in the ground, the same height, 5/10 times!! 🤣 So....let's talk spin rates, launch angles, and how we hit '300 yards off the tee'.

The fence at the end of our range is 250 yards and it’s 75+ feet high. I have always been able to carry the fence. When I can’t anymore, I can try a newer driver, or a different shaft but I’m 60 years old… I’ve had a good run… I know it’ll be age not the club so much.
