I’m talking about the hands opposing equally roughly at the 5:30 mark. Where Cowen demonstrates wringing a towel with his hands to help stabilize the club face.

Never heard of that before. Tried it swinging on my mat and it did feel more secure in my hands. The other stuff in the video with the shoulders to hit fades and draws was interesting as well.

But the towel wringing feel was new to me. May give it a go under the gun tomorrow morning.🏌️‍♂️

Here’s just the towel drill. Looks like the thumbs squeeze towards each other with the right turning counter clockwise and the left turning clockwise.

And here’s the shoulder loading drill explained in a shorter vid. For a straight, fade or draw.

Sneakylong changed the title to Anybody tried this? Pete Cowen / James Robinson .

That equal opposition of hands on grip "wringing towel" basically the same "feel" I get or anyone that has experienced using an Impact Snap. Which yields high club face awareness.

Tried the towel wringing today and hit some great hybrids using it. Didn’t notice much difference with the irons. Didn’t work well with woods and driver.

Tried the grip change and what I found it really helps keep your arms, elbows
more together and working as a unit.
The hard part for me was trying keep that same "ringing a towel"grip feeling through impact.
For chipping and PUTTING, this grip IS/can be a game changer.
Haven't quite figured out the shoulder concept for draws and fades yet.
Very much worth a try! IMO

I did use it for putting today. It worked pretty well, especially on short putts.

So you're actively using your hands to wring the club on your downswing?

There is way more to Cowen than that small video that James Robinson did. If you truly are going to be committed to learning his teachings better have a whole boat load of time and lots of energy and money for range. Sorry I don't see many if any Buzzer's that will follow thru. It's the honeymoon phase you'll try it hmmm this feels different try it for a few rounds and go back to what you have drilled into your golf swing for eons of time. Look at the Pyramid of Learning 1, 2 & 3 to fully understand. Now one could take a few bits here and there maybe help your swing but it all goes together.

What I liked about Robinson's video was the club face awareness and pivot off your pec upper shoulder this can be taken from every golf teacher. What Cowen adds is the spiral from ground up. This is not for the faint of heart that can't work on it and won't put in the time. See 22 mins of Robinson YT video (then end of the video is reality in golf swing instruction and least Cowen says it) and how much time it takes to get to a good level of performance. 2 hours a day says Cowen. Buzzer's spend more time on this forum than they do on their swing. 😜

You do it throughout the swing. From start to finish. It’s to stabilize the face. You wring your hands towards each other. What you’ll feel is more control in holding the club.

The hands are basically working opposite of each other to secure the club. So it’s all about face control. I actually putted better with it today. The putter face can’t wobble as much. It’s a very secure feeling.

I don’t hit balls. I just practice my swing on a mat in my house. So whatever swing tip I try is debuted under the gun of friendly competition.

I have no problem trying different things. If they work fine, if not then it gets scrapped. Lol

Sneakylong I get it now, I thought this was a move you made in the course of the swing. I was watching the video in the airport and having a hard time hearing.
