Looks like there will be a $15 'surcharge' on boxes over 30" starting April 3rd. 😳

🤔 hopefully that surcharge does not apply to USPS packages paid for via the PP shipping app.

I was able to find one source indicating-

New Fees Beginning April 2022
Fees and surcharges may apply to Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, and Parcel Select Ground shipments based on the package volume and dimensions.

If dimensions are not provided or if dimensions are inaccurate: A $1.50 fee will be added for packages that are greater than one cubic foot in volume or have a box length greater than 22 inches.

If packages have dimensions that exceed machinable sorting requirements: New nonstandard fees will apply:

Packages greater than 2 cubic feet in volume: $15.00 surcharge

Packages with a box length over 22 inches: $4.00 surcharge

Packages with a box length over 30 inches: $15.00 surcharge

These fees apply to shipping labels created through an online postage provider (e.g., ShippingEasy)

👆If the the link is correct, I think above quoted is the key language. Seems like fee would only apply in that scenario. Not sure what the machinable sorting requirements are, but if package dimensions entered correctly and quoted a price and paid for postage then you should be good to go!

ode I personally, never like to try to interpret anything the P.O. prints. They don't even know what they mean, as has been proven in the past.

But, when you are going to use any app for shipping, it will, or should be, already be pre-loaded with the P.O. requirements/costs. But, I guess we will have to wait and see when these new prices take affect. I just cannot see a 48" box being charged an extra $15, there are just too many of them being shipped every day; they WILL go bankrupt very quickly!
Piss people on one hand, the other hand follows by lowering the zipper. And you will be the one getting pissed on. And when people like me, that ship 100's of packages a year, pull their dicks out and take aim, you're ass is getting wet! And you will drown.

I sent out 10 boxes last Monday. I noticed that on every one, except 1, I could have saved a few cents by using UPS, with dedicated delivery dates. So, my zipper is already down. Don't make me unleash the beast.

You’ve got to be kidding. I balked on sending a set Nike Irons to Arizona because shipping was nearly $50…. Now there’s going to be a $15 surcharge on top of that?

Even sending out a 45” shaft will be an extra $15?

I suspect folks are taking liberties with some of these shipping apps and slapping labels on packages with incorrect info and this is USPS response to deal with it.

I think the bold (and quoted section) in my prior posts is the key language!

One thing I’d point out is when you do it through pirate ship or paystation your PayPal account or credit card is attached to it. If usps doesn’t agree with your measurements they will back charge you.

I was off by 1 lb on a set of pulls. Said they were 2 lbs and usps said the box weighed 3. They charged back another $6 for that additional pound. IIRC the original package cost $9?!?!?! That additional half pound was expensive!!!!

colej yes....have had it happen. The balloon rate for dim is where it's a real issue and I think that's what they are after. USPS charged PayPal and PayPal came after me. Until bill was paid I could not use the shipping app.

In my area OfferUp has a pretty active golf section. Has been pretty good for me. I’m tending to hang on to more stuff these days or give it to my son in law. Par4QC that was my thought! This will lead to all hell breaking loose. I could see raising prices a small percentage on packages over 22" and little more than that on packages over 30" but $4 and 15$🤔

And, they don't randomly raise rates. Traditionally, Jan. 1, or thereabouts. Same for FedEx.

Par4QC do you know if FedEx is included on any of these apps that are popping up that have been mentioned? For longer boxes I'd like to have the option of UPS or FedEx!

ode The only one I use is the PP. They were supposed to have all 3 shippers on there, but I've never found FedEx. May have changed when they went to the new format.
I do prefer FedEx over UPS though, esp. when it comes to breakage complaints, that I see from others on the 'net.

USPS has been great for me, domestic and foreign, all the years I've been using them, esp. the past 2+ years of this virus mess. I can count on 1 hand the problems I've had, and they were rectified with 48 hrs. every time. Plus, never a damage complaint from any buyer, and only 1 box that was lost going to Ireland. So, this type increase they are showing, does chafe me much, IF it comes to pass. I don't like giving up a 'sure thing', as it seems I've had with the P.O. people.
