I damn sad part is this: No old school or true fitters in this area. We have Edwin Watts, Champion, and some guy Bryans golf ($3600.00 for full set) and one guy that I know that goes between here and Jupiter Fl.... He is top 100 fitter that is really proud of himself.

He bragged about buying all these ust recoil and other misc shafts from someone going out of business. I inquired about the ESX shafts, with him telling me that he gets $135.00 a shaft n Jupiter.... He told me just sold 28 recoils to his friend for $125.00 each. I said your friend is just dumb, or has more money than he worries about. Then I asked him, "and you did this to your friend" ? He said that is the business and most people just don't understand it. If I could just get the CORRECT length and lie, I would be like a pig in #*)t any of you guys coming to North Florida in the VERY NEAR future??? LOL
I guess this is just going to take a little time. Thank you for the help

I've told you all the story of my VA buddy who dropped $5.1k at Club Champion on his "last" set of clubs. They're "custom" fit/built. His scores are the same but he knows it's his fault, not the clubs.

DonM I understand some people are against things that are not the norm. That said many clubmakers and builders utilize TLT, hence the Dealer Locator.

I use it in my irons since the tech makes sense to me. To each their own.

The OP was looking for iron set up suggestions and this is one. Hope he finds what he is looking for.

The math models that TLT is based off of do make sense. I have not had one returned set in the many years of fitting/building TLT and it makes very much sense when using Moi heft match vs. 1/2" length graduation swing weight heft match the two go hand in hand together. I wouldn't do one without the other.

TLT with swing weight construes the fit. That might be the issue with ill fit TLT clubs.

Plus Don you use more of a single plane swing so what fits you and another more traditional two plane swing which are 90+ % of golfers is not the same.

I play my clubs 1" long. However, I also like to move my grip about 1/2 down from the top of the shaft. This accomplishes a few things I found work for me. One is I like a higher swing weight than most recommend. Next the grip feels more secure when the butt of the club rest a bit beyond my palm. I will tend to hold the club with less tension. I also will move up and down the grip a bit depending on the lie or if I wish to hit a high or lower trajectory. It provides me with a couple of set up options I like. I do my own club work.

He’s have been better off googling it, 2 seconds he’d have had his answer. I don’t know how single length clubs have anything to do with his answer😂😂. The poor guy…

I misread his post...oops! The true answer is their are no basic standards in golf. Would be nice if they adhered to some kind of standard, so hobbyists (like me) would not have spent so much money in the past trying to figure things out. TLT are just my standard lengths. You have to decide what standard is best for you. 8 iron for Callaway might be one length say 36.5 and 8 iron for Ping might be 37 and TM might be 36.75. No standards for iron lengths or shaft construction/flex ratings. The latter one really makes things difficult. At least it does for me, yet, I digress...

Goes back to fitting build test iron light so lead tape can be added and check impact as weight is added assuming playing length and lie (lie can be checked same time) is correct.

Majority of test clubs are built to the std. of the company used and then recommendations are made not by actually using the correct playing length/lie not always but I'd say the majority.

TLT is the best thing I've ever done equipment wise.
