Call me Karnak on the semi merger of the tours.

Saudi Arabia signs $133m deal with DP World to create region's largest logistics hub at Jeddah port...The European Tour better look out - The Saudi's may end up being their owner if they sink their teeth into DP World any further...

garyt1957 We don't care about the DP Tour, and I never said it helped them. It only helps the PGA Tour. (maybe).
My real point is that the PGA just screwed over at min. 10 of their own players, while threatening to ban them if they play elsewhere.
I'm not even sure those top 10 guys, all of them, will even come here to play.
What happens when the bottom 10 on the PGA list has made more money than those 10 getting the 'free ride', but they have to go through Q school????
I just heard that LeBron has officially joined the LIV tour
Being it is the PGJAY, I'm not sure what he's saying, about those 10. It now shows 'in addition to' those already exempt. Exempt from what/where/from what/from where???? At any rate, 10 wannabes from Q school are going to be shorted. imo. They only give so many cards total, unless they are changing the whole system of doing things.

I take no issue with it, this was bound to happen.....and I'd expect those ten would still play all the big events on the DP. 10 spots open up for up and comers on the DP. Lots of cash to be made on the KF Tour, DP, etc. If the few guys that get shut out because of this don't like it they can always make a shitload of money on the KF or DP. If they feel slighted by the PGA they have that other option.
I like to see the Euros come over and vice versa. TW always did this and it was fun to see him in those events (less him acting like a jackass) and it really helped those events. The ones I really like are the British Masters and the Australian Open. I think both end at the big courses The Old Course and Royal Melbourne but also include other courses the first two rounds.....I just don't know if other tour players qualify or if they need a special invite/exemption?
It’s eye-opening (or should be?) what a tiny bit of competition has already brought about. I can’t imagine the monkey wrench that would be thrown into the PGA’s workings (and their reaction/concessions) if there was REAL competition.
azgreg If this is true, I don't know what to think about PXG.
Gary Player is, from all I've seen, their main spokesperson. His bag has the Saudi logo on it, above the PXG branding!!
So, let's assume this is blown out of proportions, in order to sully the LIV Tour(again), and in reality, Reed is actually the one that made a change, and dropped PXG.
Ok, so details are slowly being released, instead of coming right out and telling everything up front. I guess they just wanted to stir the pot for a few hours.
There will be 5 PGA cards given out at Q-school, which has not been done since '11. Also, they are giving cards to the top 30(up from 25) from the Korn Ferry Tour. So, there's our 10.
Like fucking pulling teeth from these bastages, to get all info.

Eguller Call me Karnak on the semi merger of the tours.
Good call. My post below was from two weeks ago. Strengthening their alliance was a smart move. The Saudi's buying the DP World Tour would be a disaster.
"They did sign a strategic alliance last year with the PGA Tour, but they could possibly either fully merge or the PGA Tour buy the DP World Tour."
Sneakylong Saudi's buying the DP World Tour would be a disaster.
That's an understatement!

I heard one idea that we could see down the road is the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour merge into some sort of Global Tour. With the top 50 players playing against each other for large purses.
There’d be another Tour where you could play your way onto the top 50 Tour. Interesting idea. But again, the idea being that the top level players are competing against each other more often.
Unlike LIV where it’s just ceremonial golf with popular ‘name’ golfers. In professional sports people want to see top competition with the best going against each other.
Nobody wants to see someone shoot 11 over par bad golf and are simply there because of name recognition. This is where LIV will struggle in their current model. The competition and drama we’ve seen recently from the PGA Tour and the Majors have been phenomenal.

Ironic.....isn't that what GN was trying for way back when?
I think it would be interesting to have a multi-tour event based on WR points and take X amount from each tour!

I believe Norman's 'Stars' Tour idea was more of an invitational or popularity Tour like LIV. The idea I referenced came from former PGA Tour player Dennis Paulson on PGA Tour Radio. He just gave it an off the top of his head name (Global Tour).
This would be different in that you'd have to get into the top 50 Tour by world ranking points. And you could play your way on the Top 50 Tour. Who knows, but it sounded interesting.
