**You are not an independent contractor if you perform services that can be controlled by an employer (what will be done and how it will be done). This applies even if you are given freedom of action. What matters is that the employer has the legal right to control the details of how the services are performed.

If an employer-employee relationship exists (regardless of what the relationship is called), then you are not an independent contractor.....**

I believe it's as long as you are a "member" of the tour.

California ruled Uber and Lyft drivers were "employees" even though the drivers could pick and choose their own calls they could answer and when they were on the clock. Millions of dollars for lobbyists and lawyers later, and a lot of court appearances, they got it overturned so they remain independent contractors today.

I’m sure any lawsuit will try and use the anti trust laws against the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour unlike Major League Baseball is not exempt even though they are non profit.

Using anti trust as a basis to sue the PGA Tour is far from a slam dunk though. The caddies used it in their lawsuit in 2015 and were unsuccessful.

I know guys who are private contractors doing a job for Ford can't also do a job for GM. They sign a clause that they won't work for another auto company while under contract. So I guess the PGA could do the same.

"LIV Golf announced its opening event this week in London will be shown on Facebook, YouTube and its own website.
One of the many questions surrounding the Saudi-backed golf venture was which network would carry the fledgling league. However, at least in the United States, LIV Golf will have to launch from social and online platforms only. LIV Golf did announce its product will be aired on global networks in a release, but did not specify which, only saying a list of broadcasters will be made available on its website later this week.

Leading the coverage will be Arlo White. Primarily known for his work in the Premier League soccer, White has been tapped as LIV Golf’s play-by-play voice. As reported by Golf Digest last week, former Golf Channel commentator Jerry Foltz is signed on to be the series’ primarily analyst, with Asian Tour broadcaster Dom Boulet completing the three-person booth. Also part of the LIV Golf broadcast team will be long-drive competitor Troy Mullins and FOX Sports Asia analyst Su-Ann Heng."

My LIV Contest was in committee debate similar to a Canadian Open Contest - they nixed both and
preferred to wait for the US Open Contest soon to be announced. You're right though that it appears
certain Buzzers are, once again, trying to jump the gun on their picks. DQ could result.... 🙄

Looks like Phil is moving on with LIV Golf and the Majors...Guess it's bye to the PGA Champions Tour, at least till the dust settles from the, I'm sure, upcoming lawsuits...What's he getting??? upwards of $130 million guaranteed???

I bet they'd let him back for the Champions Tour. The glut of big names on that tour begs for a guy like Phil.
