"In a Wednesday night filing, the tour asserts that the case is not about unfair competition—“if anyone is competing unfairly, it is LIV, not the tour”—and accuses the LIV-backed lawsuit as a “cynical effort to avoid competition and to freeride off of the tour’s investment in the development of professional golf.”

“Golfers who join LIV must sign long-term exclusive contracts that require them to participate in all LIV events and prohibit them from playing in any tour events occurring in the same week as any LIV event [or any conflicting event whatsoever],” reads the counter. “LIV’s statements regarding golfer freedom are a thinly veiled public relations ploy concocted to disparage the tour and deflect criticism from LIV’s own restrictive business model.”

"Among the tour’s reasoning is that LIV requires players to compete in every event on its schedule, that players have surrendered their promotional rights to LIV, that players have requirements to show up to its marketing and sponsor events and that players can’t respond to interviews or media appearances without LIV’s blessing. Any existing player sponsors also must be introduced to LIV, and that players must wear LIV-branded apparel.

Additionally, the tour accuses LIV Golf of a coordinated campaign of “ongoing interference” with contracts between the tour and players strictly so LIV can convince a court to alter the tour’s structure to benefit LIV at the expense of the tour."

The commitments required by the LIV contracts don't seem unreasonable given the huge up-front payouts the players received. Those are contracts with both sides in agreement. The PGA has commitment requirements governed by organization rules, not contracted payment agreements . PGA = if you join our tour we'll let you win all the money you can, but you have to honor these commitments. LIV = we'll pay you truckloads of money up front to honor these commitments AND you can win buttloads of money in the events. Apples and Oranges?

johnnydoom Off topic - but as long as you're both here. Houses and properties ok, or too soon to know?

We're well north of Tampa so we dodged the big bullet. Just wind rain and no damage. @Sneakylong is south of me so I await his response. Thanks Johnny!

Thanks for asking. As Steve said we got lucky. It was tracked to hit Tampa and like Charlie in 2004 it turned and hit the south west part of the state. Ian was a combination of Charlie strength wise and Irma (2017) size wise. Devastating storm.

We feel for the people affected by Ian. Dodging hurricanes is the price we pay to live in paradise. California has earthquakes, but there is no earthquake season every year like we have here in Florida with hurricane season.

Btw Tampa hasn’t had a direct hit since 1921. Fingers crossed that trend continues. 🤞

Sir Charles didn't go to LIV, but he leveraged it for a $100 mil contract with TNT. Still says he's planning to retire early though.
