Rain pants?

Another post got me thinking. I always wear shorts when golfing. I sometimes will wear rain pants over the shorts until it's warm enough to strip down to shorts (50+ degrees when walking).

I have some el cheapo rain pants for golf that are not waterproof, as I have found out a few times. I don't know why they would be called rain pants to tell you the truth.

I don't play in the rain much, so I would not want to break the bank, so what are your recommendations for brands?

I know Footjoy has some nice ones, but they are close to $200 and I would not want to do that.

That👆being said, do not waste your money. I play 150+ rounds a year in Wisconsin and that does not afford me to be a fair weather golfer....I walk 90+ percent of my rounds and if it rains the umbrella goes up. For what it's worth I push so umbrella sits in a holder and works really well. I still need a bag cover if it's coming down with any consistency! If you are riding then it's much less of an issue! I have a cheap pair of The Weather Company pants.that do the trick. I think they were 35$. I look for goretex pants all the time but I wear rain pants so infrequently that I have now stopped looking. Spend your cash on something else!

In the summer here in Florida it can rain anytime in the summer. It can rain on one side of the street and not on the other. Lol

Several years ago I bought a pair of FJ Dryjoy rain pants and brought them to a Taylor and had them altered to shorts. Love’em. They’re always in my bag. Very easy to throw on when a shower pops up.

I wear shorts 90 percent of the time golfing. Rain pants made no sense for me. Rain shorts made a lot of sense.

That is a great idea!! I have a pair of FJ's prob worn 4 times at the most.

Being in full geezerdom we don't play in the rain...We do use rain pants for those cool, breezy early spring/fall mornings then remove them as the sun warms us up...If it starts to rain during a round it just means that "Miller Time" is beginning earlier than usual...

If it’s under 60 outside what’s wrong with a pair of long pants?

Nothing. I just prefer shorts. And I tend to get hot easy, so the shorts help.
