mulegolf candukid Supposedly has to do with the different ways to measure CT (the amount of time the ball stays on the driver face). Golf Spy tested it and found a small but definite gain in speed for golfers with a 105 mph swing.
DonM mulegolf I can believe that they've found a way to beat the CT test. Maybe only by a little. If so I would expect the ruling bodies to change the test.
mulegolf LBlack14 I'd like it even better if the face was black 🖤. There are several (I believe 5) colors that you can choose from. The most normal looking on is grey. It almost looks like a normal titanium driver face.
KCee Tinker I'm curious about that as well. It's supposed to be 60 layers and the layers are all alternating to be stronger. Apparently there is a special "nano" coating on the face for more strength. The raw carbon fiber may be less expensive, but I wonder how involved the process is for making this face?
DonM Just read this on mygolfspy: TaylorMade is so committed to the Carbonwood that it has said it will never make another titanium-faced driver. It’s so serious, in fact, that job titles are changing. Guys have literally had the Metalwood in their job tiles changed to Carbonwood.

sdandrea1 Tinker Carbon fiber much cheaper raw material than titanium, easier and cheaper to glue together. So the profit margin jumped WAY up. Brilliant!
rsvman2 Watched three more videos about it. All thought it was good, most saw a very slight increase in distance (2-5 yards).
ode I'm still surprised by the sound....would think if more of a thud coming of carbon fiber but still has a metallic sound to it!
Walterjn My Srixon has some red to it, however I can't see it when at address, or when I check the face. I like the black face, I can see where on the face I hit the ball without any stickers or foot spray...
ode pellmell I get that....clearly TW has influenced the color scheme....and IMO TMag is smart for going with it; design wise it it's the newest iteration of the SIM with the carbon face. The Nike Covert and TM Stealth bare little else in resemblance.
KCee DC300 Cool, now I can buy one of the “old” titanium heads at a better price. I miss those days. Not as many deals now.
