That is a narrow opening for the first hole, not enough mulligans.
2-iron. He carries a driver, but I have seen him use it only a handful of times. He uses his 2-iron all the time and can hit it 200-220 and consistently in the middle. His driver, while I have seen him hit it well, is not consistent at all, so he leaves it in the bag (sometimes leaves it at home). BTW, that is the rear teeing ground and the difference on the card for tees:
back tees are 411, middle at 404 and forward at 401
It is not super tight compared to some others I have played, but for an opening hole? Yeah, it's tight.
