My rangefinder sits in the pocket nearest my left hand when I'm carrying my bag - if I need a measurement, I'll get it out as I'm walking to my ball, then put it away as I put my bag down. I'll also save a bit of time if someone else is playing by using the rangefinder and my GPS watch to work out an offset (say I have 135 middle by the GPS, and 142 to the flag using the rangefinder - that gives me an idea of how far I'll have, allowing for the distance to my ball, and I'll add that 7 yards to the GPS middle yardage when I get to my ball, saving me the time for another measurement) - also a good way of getting a reasonably accurate yardage to the flag on a blind shot (measuring for an offset from somewhere I can see the flag, ideally directly in line with ball and flag - also reminds me to pick out a good line at the same time).
