I'll try to get you up to speed. lol
Trump's own far right Director of National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent just resigned. "I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it's clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and it's powerful American lobby."
Also, Trump has asked several NATO countries to now help in our war with Iran. He's said that he's getting pushback with NATO countries saying they don't want to get involved with this war.
He's complained that we've helped them for 40 years and they've never done anything for us. That's a false claim (nothing new for him). In fact the only time Article 5 has been invoked was when we were attacked on 9-11 in 2001.
Article 5 is a pact with the NATO countries signed after WWII that if one NATO country is attacked it is an attack on all of the NATO countries. Many NATO countries sent troops who ultimately died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It might have helped had he not insulted many of our NATO partners and threatened to take Greenland etc.. All the while praising Putin and other authoritarian leaders like Orban of Hungary. He does seem to like strongmen leaders over democratic ones.
Not surprising since his former Chief of Staff General John Kelly called Trump "fascist to the core."
And according to Kelly he told him people in the military were "suckers and losers."
One last thing. Many of Trump's own supporters are turning away because the two things he ran on were no more stupid wars and (inflation) affordability.
He seemed to not understand that tariffs (which are inflationary) are paid by the importers and not the country of origin. Thankfully they've been struck down by the Supreme Court. And he just got us into another one of those stupid wars.
Wars have a history of unintended consequences. Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan come to mind. And two of those were started on lies. Gulf Of Tonkin and Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Looks like it's three lies now. Because Iran was not an imminent threat to the U.S.. Were not close to building a nuclear bomb and don't have ballistic missiles that can reach the United States.
