That doesn't come as a surprise - American football is very popular in Germany (partly due to the significant numbers of US troops based there in the second half of the 20th century), and the NFL Europe teams based in Germany were very well supported. The surprise is that it took so long for the NFL to take a game there, given that the London games have been going on for 15 years.
