Doubtful the truth, either way, can/will ever be proven. The released police report shows nothing more than a he said - she said scenario, and waiting two weeks between the alleged incident and its reporting will likely have removed any physical evidence - or direct attribution, if any exists, to the alleged event.
If Diggs is actually innocent (as he claims) and/or found not guilty ... or even if the case is dropped, there will always be people who will believe he was guilty and got away with it, or bought his way out. He's punished to some degree either way. Every time I hear one of these cases/stories being discussed/tried in the media, I cannot help thinking back on the Duke lacrosse rape hoax.
