Par4QC But he's far, far back of ever being considered a GOAT in any phase of football.
Just a tad hyperbolic. lol
Jim Brown would get my vote for the best running back. His numbers are pretty good (understated) for a 9 year career. He could’ve played longer, but opted to go to Hollywood to make more money.
“Jim Brown is often considered the greatest running back in NFL history due to his unparalleled dominance relative to his peers, a unique blend of size and speed, and career-long statistical averages that remain unbroken. He achieved this success despite a short, nine-season career, during which he never missed a game.
Unmatched Statistical Dominance.
Per-Game Averages: Brown is the only player in NFL history to average over 100 rushing yards per game for his career (104.3). His 5.2 yards per carry average is the highest among all qualified running backs.
Rushing Titles: He led the league in rushing in eight of his nine professional seasons. No other player has won the rushing title more than four times.
MVP Awards: Brown was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times (1957, 1958, 1965), a testament to his consistent impact on his team's success.
All-Pro Selections: He was a first-team All-Pro selection in all but one of his nine seasons.
Physicality and Style of Play.
Size and Speed Combination: At 6'2" and 232 pounds, Brown was significantly larger and faster than most players of his era, often outweighing opposing linebackers and defensive tackles. This made him extremely difficult to tackle, as he could run through or around defenders with equal effectiveness.
Durability: He played in an era of intense physical punishment and never missed a game during his nine-year career, a remarkable feat that speaks to his toughness and conditioning.
Versatility: In addition to his rushing prowess, Brown was a superb pass catcher and effective blocker, making him a complete offensive threat.”
“While modern backs like Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and Emmitt Smith have compiled more prodigious career totals due to longer careers, many experts point to Jim Brown's superior efficiency and dominance over his contemporaries as the key reasons he is often hailed as the greatest ever.”
“In1999, he was named the greatest professional football player ever by The Sporting News and the Associated Press.”
