professor They owned it by not arguing it was not inadvertent. Or, and we do not know exactly how it went down, maybe they told NY it was inadvertent and for them to override.
The NY call came in before the players had all 'given up/left the field' & officials made a ruling on the play, iirc. The call came very quickly.
It was a botched deal by everyone on the field during the play,,,,,refs and players! The players are the ones that are not 'owning it' & esp. their coach.πThey don't know their own rules. They quit playing like trained dogs..... on a whistle.(given though....most thought it to be an incomplete pass)
NY is watching every play, seeing what we see at home, which is always much more than what officials on the field see, or can see. There are inadvertent whistles in most games, but this is the 1st time I recall one being overturned.
I never have sound on the TV during games, so I would never hear a whistle. But on that play, I did yell at the TV for 'someone to grab the live ball'. Even a dummy like me knew!!π
