Biggest issue with all sports broadcasters is they can't shut up and let the play be what it is. Mostly gotta talk about their past experiences. Some guys like Max McGee #85 Packers radio and others like Bob Uecker Brewers radio can tell funny stories from the past but these modern guys are terrible. I kinda like Kirk Herbstreit doesn't talk about his days at Ohio St. Gary Danielson, Todd Blackledge I kinda like. Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Aikman, Joe Buck they all suck. Nance this he is gods gift to broadcasting...... "hello friends" schtick c'mon get a life Nance you'll never be Pat Summerall as Joe Buck will never be Jack Buck.

My did he regress when the heat was on. Somebody will sign him though. All depends on who's available in free agency. You might be stuck with him. They can't turn over th reigns to JJ and expect to win in the near term.

One other trait all the great broadcasters have is great connection with the audience and a kinda of I care about the game. John Madden had that!

Good broadcasting does come across better on the radio than it does TV. Leaves it up to the imagination of the listener/fan. Homer broadcasters on their feed are great for the fan of that team.

I'm not sure that was a "cheap shot". To the best of what I can gather, currently from the internet, it appears that Verse was blocked into O'Neill.

As much as things change, they stay the same. Football remains a game that still is won or lost in the trenches. Give me a good O-line and a good D-line and that's a good start, despite all the chatter about "passing yards", "splash plays", and Quarterbacks. LOL

Yes, I've tried to sync-up the video broadcast with the local sports steam from 610-WIP but have not been successful. It's not fun watching some old Japanese Godzilla meets King Kong flick.

It takes a couple of minutes to sync, but gosh it's so much better listening to Merrill and Mike vs whoever else.

I usually pull up that link on my smartphone and play it on a bluetooth with the volume down. At least I can pause it on the smartphone and try to sync it with live coverage. It's a hassle but worth it imo.

professor no. It was a direct helmet to helmet spear and away from the play. The only reason it is not being discussed is because it didn't look bad, i.e. running start/clock cleaned type of hit. It was ugly and that same DL was talking sh1t to the same OL earlier in the game....although I cannot prove it, I suspect it was done with intent! End result is ugly. That is the kind of cheap sh1t that should not be tolerated!

Disregarding your assumption that it was intentional - "I cannot prove it." and that your relating it to "talking sh1t" goes on every play, in every game. What's the video "say"? It "says" Verse was blocked, in an upright position, right into the head to head contact. If you want to infer intent, that's for you to assume.

I did base my picks on current form, and really screwed the pooch on last night's game....figuring a rebound by Vikings, and not realizing how hungry Matthew & Co. are for another SB.

You may only be '1/2 happy' after next weekend.😄😉

Me too. I was 4 - 0 and figured the last two games were toss-ups. One was and I picked wrong, the other wasn't and I picked wrong. None of my picks were based upon any stats since I didn't bother to look them up. I wasn't even aware that the Rams had already beaten the Vikings earlier in the season.

They concern me because the "stats" on the affects of the tragedy in LA brings those guys together. Hopefully, that type of bonding-adrenaline wears off. They also have a deficit as the NFL set-up the playoffs; short week, cross country flight, etc... But there are tremendous athlete's out there who respond favorably and with great resilience in the face of adversity. I think that's one of the "beautiful things" about competitive sports.
