Yesterday I installed a 17 inch putter grip on a standard length putter. At the very bottom of the grip - maybe 1.5 inches - it is a little loose because the shaft severely tapers at that point. I did build it up with tape more than the upper part but I didn't estimate enough build up for that last little bit.
Just for peace of mind, I was thinking of stuffing something in there that would keep it from potentially twisting. I don't think I'll ever grip down that far on the grip but I don't like that it still has some potential to twist.
Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe cotton or steel wool.
