I’m getting ready to shaft my Thriver Mini (13 degree). I had planned on using a Grafalloy Pro Launch Supercharged Red (Stiff but tipped an inch to S+) which is a low launch shaft. I plan on building to a 5w length. This club will be a 3W replacement. While I do plan on using the Thriver off the tee on tight fairways, I’m not looking to add too much distance to the 230 I hit my current 15 plus year old Tommy Armour 845s 15 degree with a way too soft R flex shaft. I’m wondering whether a higher launching shaft would be a better option as I’m not looking to maximize distance and would prefer to have something that can hold more greens off the tee on short par 4s or on second shots on par 5s. They do make a Grafalloy PL SC Blue that is higher launch ($17 plus shipping at DTG).
What are your thoughts? Would a higher launch help offset the lower loft and give me a better chance at sticking my landings, or would the higher launch negatively impact my dispersion?
Open to suggestions. Trying to keep the price under $40 including shipping. Thanks!
