I bought a set of Ping Zing 2 irons back in the early-mid 2000's.... had them re-shafted by a local club builder as soon as they came in. They are the only set of irons I've ever bought from eBay. I also had him install ferrules. He was like, "You are aware that traditional Ping irons have no ferrules, right?" I said, "Yeah, I know. But these things are so goddamned ugly, we might as well at least try to dress 'em up a little."
True story. And those irons, quite honestly, worked very, very well for me, for a few years anyway.
Never overlook the added performance features of ferrules.
