PA-PLAYA Landon, I'm praying for your upcoming surgery.... praying that you can get some resolution with your hip. Keep the faith - when that hip gets replaced, a better life awaits once you get through the rehab phase.
The course where you've worked would be crazy to not put you back on the schedule when the time comes!
Mucho prayers your way.
I don't think you guys realize how much I appreciate it.
The hip is the least of my worries at this point. I know I'll be ok, physically, after that. The 2 guys I work for now have both told me whether they're together or separate, I don't ever have to worry about a job.
The thing that sucks is this, the 1st week of Feb, I got a call from another asst Super I worked with back in '12-'13. He just took the Superintendent's job at a pretty nice country club here local. He knows my hip/back situation and for the short time we worked together him and me spent alot of time talking and in holes together and became damn good friends. Anyway, he came over to the house and told me he had taken this job and needed an assistant and I was the 1st person on his list. Job supposed to start 3/1 and he knows I can't walk much and they're a short handed crew who still walks greens, which I love. I've tried meds and was gonna try to put the surgery off til November/December because he said he didn't think he could hold it for me for the full recovery time. Pressure from tight owners. Anyway, the meds aren't working so I went ahead and scheduled the surgery last week for 3/7. He said he's gonna do what he can, but he can't promise me anything. Said he thinks he'll get pressured to list the job. I've worked a long time in this business with no degree except what I've learned hands on. this is/was a big opportunity for me and looks like now it may pass me by. Since '08 I've basically stayed in this just because I enjoy it because the money has been shit and hasn't done much for my home life. This would be a nice chunk of change difference and certainly help my family life and mental state. Seems, over the years, I'm UN-hireable outside of golf. It's all that's been on my resume' since 1988. Painted myself in a corner so to speak.
Anyway, enough of the sob story and thanks again for all your well wishes, it's very much appreciated.
