Today is a Weather Impact Alert day as we track a volatile atmosphere over our region for the afternoon. We expect scattered severe thunderstorms to quickly develop after 3 pm, racing east with large hail, damaging winds, and a tornado threat through the evening. 3-9 pm seems to be the prime time for this activity, which unfortunately involves much of the evening commute. Make sure you have a way to receive warnings so you can take appropriate action. The most intense thunderstorms are expected to be along and north of the I-80 corridor.
Storms will continue overnight, though the severe weather threat will rapidly decrease after sunset. Heavy rain is likely at times with overnight temperatures in the 60s.
Another round of scattered severe thunderstorms is possible Wednesday afternoon and evening, as temperatures again reach near 80. A level 2/5 risk is in place for all hometowns tomorrow.
For those that may not understand 'meteorological speak' .................Hell'sacomin'!! And will return Friday afternoon to finish the job.
