Driver shaft broke first time out after changing adapters

Had a G425 adapter put on a UST shaft I had with a G400 adapter. I heard a few slight cracking sounds before and then it broke right at the adapter.

First time out with it after changing adapters. I've had adapters changed before without a problem. I wonder if he weakened / damaged the shaft when he took the G400 adapter off? 🤔

Won't be going back to him for any club alteration stuff. I played my 3 wood off the tee from the 13th hole on and shot a 77. 😎

Also, is the adapter ruined or can the broken part of the shaft inside the adapter be removed?

I'd take it back an make him replace the shaft/adapter with new!

Done right, the adapter can be saved. You'll probably have to replace the soft ferrule though.

Yeah it can happen. Likely just a bit too much heat for too long. Or, he may have twisted the shaft possible too when pulling. Usually when you pull a shaft you can tell if there's damage as the graphite might fray a bit. I know for me, if there is any doubt in the integrity, I just tip the shaft a half inch or so or whatever is needed to get rid of the weak point.

The adapter should be able to be saved, it'll just take some work to remove the shaft that is inside
