sdandrea1 @Spuzz 's idea, and a good one it is. Good place to gripe about aches, pains, SS checks, joint replacements, millennials, hipsters, loss of distance, triple bogeys, etc.
Eguller May as well kick it off..... Damn inflammation seems to build up over a few days of golf and then a Celebrex makes me all wiggly again. ๐
letthebigdogshunt Golf past 65 seems to get worse every year. I used to be a good ball striker, not a great one , but good. Now I am inconsistent and much shorter distance wise. If these are the Golden years I want to go back to not so Golden years. Of course the good news is I am still on the top of the fairway grass and not under it YET.
hobbit I don't consider myself a member of the geezer community yet. But I did have golfers' elbow a few years ago. Thankfully a guy in my regular group is an orthopedic surgeon and gave me some stretches to do. They cleared it up! Certainly useful for geezers! Here is a YouTube video I found that includes more than just the stretches my guy gave me...
mikeintopeka hobbit I don't consider myself a member of the geezer community yet. The first step to recovery and acceptance is to admit you are a geezer๐. Denial simply delays the inevitable. ๐คฃ
golf_bhoy hobbit Thanks for that. I've had intermittent elbow pain from snow clearing duties earlier this year but hadn't looked for a "cure". Some of the tips in your video can be done sitting watching TV, my kind of exercise! I probably shouldn't be in this thread for something so trivial. Those with more serious issues have my support and best wishes.
johnnydoom Last week I played two rounds. The first one, my back was hurting much of the round and shot a 96. Two days later, I took an Aleve in the morning and then another an hour before the round and felt pretty good and shot 83. Guess maybe I need to medicate before rounds now.
Spuzz johnnydoom Guess maybe I need to medicate before rounds now. Shot of rum with Aleve is a good swing lube. I don't recommend the Percocet with Rum until you reach Pro Level tolerance. Just a SpuzzYI for ya.
KCee Last week I stupidly decided to work out almost every day and then played 27 on Memorial Day. My back was NOT happy with me the 2nd 9, but the ibuprofen, beer and margaritas kicked in for the 3rd
candukid Well. 3 days into retirement and I busted up my big toe pretty bad. Multiple breaks. Waiting on a call back from orthopaedic surgeon to see it it will heal by itself or needs a wire or two. Golf on hold for a while. Sucks. spuzz told me about this thread while i am sitting in the hospital right now.
Eguller candukid Well. 3 days into retirement and I busted up my big toe pretty bad. We won't ask .... or call you names, but OMG man. ๐ค
Spuzz Eguller We won't ask I say it's his own fault because he was wearing gayazz flip flops that no grown man should wear outside of a public shower. I cannot confirm or deny if that is the case though.
Maugust789 Beyond the foot and leg cramps in the middle of the night, it's the weird bumps that show up unexpectedly that confound me. I was lowering myself onto the floor using my hand and as it bent back POW. That sucker is wrapped around the tendon and has been inside for awhile. Now I know why I was getting flashes of numbness in my thumb. Of course my doctor won't lance it for me before I head to my golf week. It will be surgery when I get back.
DonM Maugust789 Statins can cause cramps. My doctor lowered my statin RX. She says sheโs not worried if my cholesterol is slightly high, because even the minimal dose of statins will reduce inflammation, and thatโs where a lot of the benefit is derived. YMMV.
raggmann54 Maugust789 Looks like a Baker's or Ganglian Cyst. Had one in the back of my knee that popped out while I was running in a 10K race in my stupid younger days as a road runner. Ended up as major surgery - removal of cyst from the joint from the back through to the knee cap, repair of torn calf muscle tendon, and repair anterior crucial and medial collateral ligaments, etc....Not a fun thing. These days when I go golfing I have a knee brace on left knee - where surgery took place in 1981 - 93 - 06; elbow sleeve on both arms for tendon problems; compression hand and wrist mittens, the Sabona kind; and Zero Friction compression golf gloves just like Tommy Two-Gloves for the arthritis in knuckles, tendonitis in joint and thumbs and ligament tears in both wrists. Then, take several 600 milligram Advil's before teeing off.
