Thriver Shaft and Weight

I’m looking to build a Thriver with (with an Acer XV Mini head). I want a club I can hit off the tee (when a driver is too much or fairways are tight), off the deck, and out of the rough when I duff a drive. [Also let me know if anyone has an Acer XV Mini head they are looking to move]

Shaft:
I'm leaning towards a 42 inch shaft for better control. I need something stiff or x-stiff. DTG has the Grafalloy ProLaunch SuperCharged shafts for $16. I play the red (low launch) in my driver and current 3 wood but am wondering if the blue (high launch) would be better for a Thriver which I want to be easy to hit out of all lies. Any thoughts? Any other budget shaft recommendations?

Weight:
As to weight, should I swap the 7g weight for the 12g if I go 42 inches?

For determining weight, I go based off the general weights of clubs. So, for a 42" build, that would be a typical 5 wood length and a typical head weight is about 220g I believe. This would be my starting point and then you could tweak from there. I've never tried the thriver mini so curious to hear your results. I'm currently auditioning a few clubs for my mini driver spot myself - I have too many choices and am not super consistent with any of them lol

Jelopster I have an Acer XV Thriver Mini head. I bought it at the same time that I bought a Ping G driver to compare it against. The Ping won, so the Thriver mini has hardly been hit (maybe once or twice, but no marks). I'll

The FGS Vision+ shaft from DTG comes in X, and it's pretty stout -- I bought one figuring it might be a little softer to flex, but I was wrong. The old SK Fiber Corsair and Rocket 85 were pretty stout for their flex if you see any around. Over the years, I've tried mini drivers and strong 3 woods, then I'll go to a higher loft driver, since the bigger head is supposed to be more fogiving. Then the magic disappears and I'm back to fairway profiles. The Acer XV Mini and the Power Play Brassie were both pretty good -- the brassie was discontinued. The first Ping Rapture 3 wood was great -- I liked the stock Proto By You shaft. I've had lower loft Tour Edge fairways, which have all been solid. And the SLDR, too. Never snagged the Aeroburner cheap enough. Back for a return engagement tomorrow will be a Pole Kat 3-D+ "driver," a deeper faced 13 degree offset fairway with an SP-700 cup face that I used to hit pretty well and was encouraging at the range over the weekend.

As far as the weight -- see how it feels with the lighter weight, though I'd guess you'll probably prefer it heavier at 42". Good luck!
