When my ball striking is off as in not catching the ball cleanly I actually look an inch or two in front of the ball. Prevents you from getting ball bound and allows you to swing thru the ball.
Also, what works well for me lately is trying to get more turn going back. I'm right arm dominant, but focusing more on getting my left shoulder back more works better for me than trying to get my right shoulder back more.
When I got back into golf in 2000 after a 20 year hiatus I went for a lesson. Always had a slice like most hackers. He told me Tiger has a 120 degree turn and I was short of 90 degrees.
Never been the most flexible guy, but he had me turn so much I lost site of the golf ball turning back and had to quickly find it coming back down. lol
One thing I've learned over the years is being short (swing) and fast is a recipe for slicing. Turning more and waiting on it a bit allows you to not get your body ahead of the ball which is a major cause of slicing.
Here's Mike Malaska talking to a major leaguer about the same issue of getting ahead of it because of not enough shoulder turn.
