I guess if you enjoy traveling, maybe it works.
But I personally find it exhausting. If I like my career and employer enough, I'll figure out how to make the best of it locally. But I simply don't have the energy, nor the patience, to travel all the time. Or even half the time.
Some people enjoy it. My wife is one of those who does! She retired a year ago and has missed that aspect of her career very much. She loves to travel, and looks forward to getting on a plane and traveling once this pandemic starts to wane and things get back to normal. Of course, I'll make a few trips with her. I would enjoy flying out to Portland and spending a week with my daughter in Vancouver, Washington. Never been there, nice place, lots to do.
That aside, I don't look forward to going places and being around a lot of people. From that standpoint, this pandemic hasn't had too much of an adverse effect on my emotional health. The last place I want to be is at an airport, pandemic or no pandemic.
Good luck with your decision!
