I dunno if he is trying to say you have to be a bit steeper and have a descending blow to create the most spin???? Bounce itself certainly does not create spin....kinda like saying bounce creates bladed shots.

I think he is confusing it, but implying the steepness as ode said. The bounce lessens the dig creating the spin. I think a better statement that has been said is the steeper you are, bounce is your friend.

Also, any guy that can hustle people with a coke bottle tied to a broomstick is no slouch. Remember, "SuperMex" kept Nicklaus from winning 21 or 22.

I saw that too; like many confusing and conflicting statements about how to create golf shots that I've seen, sometimes in same issue of the golf magazine I'm reading to learn more from the experts . Think maybe there's just lots of way to skin the cat .
I would love to be able to do Bubba's low trajectory bounce and check approach shot, mine run out mostly unless I loft up the trajectory.

Trevino has a way of trying to convince the audience that he knows more than they do. Not sure if that's a product of his career happening in the shadows of Palmer, Nicklaus and Player, or if it's just the way he is.

He is essentially correct.

For any effective loft and clubhead speed what creates spin is friction between the ball and the clubface. With more bounce you get less sand between ball and clubface thereby creating a higher coefficient of friction and more spin.

Trevino knew his swing. Probably little else about the physics of golf or clubs. Perhaps for him, higher bounce clubs spun more. Easy conclusion to draw. And correct for him.

He said something to the effect that the sole contacts the ground and the bounce then causes the club face to contact the ball imparting spin. I was hoping the interviewer would tell him he's full of mierda.

The only time I ever consider the bounce of the wedge I'm using is if it's unusually wet and soft, or maybe if I'm playing a course that I know has firm green-side bunkers with very little sand.

I might worry about bounce, and what it does, if I could hit the damn ball correctly.

For now, the only bounce I use is in the clothes dryer.

Lee's advice is from his playing experience. Sometimes he does not explain the cause for the results but it worked well with most golfers.
One tip he gave was to point the toes outward when playing a lob shot over the hazards. It worked well. The reason being is, when pointing toes outward it stop the lower body from moving hence the arm swing which will result in a higher lob shot that will land softly.
Sometimes he will come across as assertive, but most of his tips are good.

I wouldn't think bounce meant too much to Lee anyway, what with his swing taking 4' divots, 6" deep, every shot!! That man could carve up a course worse than I carve a turkey.

He really paid for the divot taking act. Don't think he could swing a golf club anywhere close to what it used to be because of the injury.
