sdandrea1 I'm done with Hawaii. It takes too long to get there, it's crowded and expensive. There are way too many beautiful warm tropic vacation spots in the Caribbean and Mexico that are half day travel away.
We loved Hawaii. It is a long trip though. I think we had a 12 hour duration which isn't bad. Plus our trip was free. My sister and brother in law are Disney vacation club members and she used her points.
All we had to do was pay for our airfare. BUT............ My wife fell on some wet steps and hurt herself. Mostly just badly bruised and sore and broke her sunglasses.
It was witnessed by a Disney lifeguard and he told us people slip there all the time and they're constantly trying to rough up the surface where people slip down the stairs.
Anyway, my sister gets on the phone with a woman at Disney in California and tells her what happened. They sent over some chocolate dipped strawberries. Nice gesture, but.
So when we got home we get a call from a woman at Disney. She asked how my wife was and if we paid for our trip. She told her she was still bruised and sore and our stay was free, but we paid for our airfare.
She said they'd reimburse our airfare fully (~$1400.00). We were happy with that. My wife still has a lump on her backside, but she took one for the team. lol Oh and they paid for a new pair of sunglasses, lol
Disney is self insured and we probably could've got a lawyer and made a bigger deal out of it. But that ain't us. I used to bad mouth Disney for being an expensive tourist trap etc.. Still not a big fan, but I'm less critical. lol
The Disney Resort (Aulani) is beautiful though. I'd go back there in a minute. Played the Ko Olina course across the street. Gorgeous. Did some bartering with the head Pro. Cape Cod lobsters for golf. lol
