Yes, that’s him. He’s passed now, but was the father of former NBA player Jalen Rose. He was the overall number 1 pick by the Pistons in 1967. Great player.

Heard an interesting idea this morning on PGA Tour Radio regarding the Presidents Cup. Change the format to 6 men and 6 women.

It automatically makes it more competitive because the International women are ranked higher than the American women. I like the idea. I think it would create more interest as well as making it more competitive.

My interest level would plummet (aside for maybe half a round due to novelty) … and competitiveness, without also being golf at it’s highest level (and I don’t think anyone could argue there wouldn’t be a drop by replacing the 7-12 men with the top 6 women), is not an attraction. A blowout NFL game’s interest would crush that if an evenly matched high school team matchup.
I don’t believe it will matter though, as I doubt there will be any format change. That would be perceived as weakness, or at least acknowledging LIV’s impact. They will continue on with head buried in the sand (kindest analogy).

My interest would increase. I'm not that nationalistic when it comes to sports, but I do like seeing great competition. The Presidents Cup as of now on paper is a miss match. Without Europe the Internationals really can't compete.

Anything is always possible, but it would be a huge upset if the Internationals beat the Americans. I love watching the LPGA. I'd like to see more of the men and women playing together.

We had a tournament here in Palm Harbor (Innisbrook) where they now play the Valspar years ago called the JC Penny classic. The men and women were teamed up in twosomes. John Daly and Laura Davies won the last year it was played in 1999. lol

I bet the internationals relish that underdog position.
Some of the greatest mismatches “on paper” have made for the most memorable events in my life (1980 US hockey? Buster Douglas?). It may not happen often, but when it does … magical. I’m glad no one took their opportunities away from them.

The BMW Championship had a nice threesome featured on TV today. Rory, Billy Horschel, and Matt Fitzpatrick. They all played well with Rory and Fitzpatrick moving up into contention on the leader board.
