Stu1961 a healthier viewpoint might be to think of the last 20 years as having been gifting you distance you never should have had?
That's not quite true. 20 years ago players were still hitting the ball over 300 with drivers. But, they were not hitting their 6i way over 200. And if they were using that 20 year old 6i today, most still would not hit them that far. Tiger did, but as we've noticed, he was an exception in the golf world back then.
So the USGA is saying they can tell some companies how to make their golf equipment(balls) but not tell other companies how to make their golf equipment(clubs)???? And a lot of the companies make both.
Why not just say everyone has to play blades where the 6i is 32*???? And use Top-Flite XL3000 balls.😆
There are 100 PGA players that are averaging 300+ with driver. Only 2 of them are at 320 or +.
It is not the drivers that are making a course's length play shorter.🤔Or the ball!
The USGA.....they just do not 'get it'!
