An air shot on a putt during the 3rd round of the 1983 Open cost Irwin a shot, and he ended up one shot behind Tom Watson at the end of the championship.

The players wanted him on the board. He respects what Arnie and Jack did for the PGA Tour and my guess is he wants to carry on that legacy. I suppose a guy with over 82 wins and has done as much for the Tour as he has would be a good choice for the board.

Based off observations of his life......personal & professional......NO.
He's made severely bad choices with his personal life as well as professional.....as far as playing with injuries he should not have. IOW, he's full of bad judgments.

The 'boys' are trying to set him up for the Commish position.

Good gawd I hope not. Loved watching him play cuz I felt i was watching someone who gave it his ALL even when he was scraping it all over the lot. Didn't care for his phase he went through with bad etiquette on the course, and the off the course stuff....you said it, does not need repeating! Getting involved with policy🤔. I dunno, maybe I'm underestimating him....it appears he's cooled off with some of the negatives that have been noted!

The lynching of Monahan seems to be swept under the rug, for now. imo, they realize he will still be calling the shots, in a no ifs/ands/buts position, even if they oust him. It has been handed to him as to the strength, or demise, of LIV Golf. They cannot remove him from that position. If, I understand the Saudi deal. Which I think no one does at present. 🤔
I think he will shitcan the LIV and put golf back into a better public eye. And save his own face.
At least, that is what I think he should do.😉 Bring the boys home.

And as far as any reparations go.....F that bs. No one was hurt by anyone but themselves, as Rahm stated.

By adding Tiger to the policy board it will now tilt the balance of power to the players. The players will now have 6 players on the board. This ensures tour members will no longer be outnumbered by nongolfers. Probably the way it should’ve been all along.

Not really. There is another member on that board on the PGA side that has never voted, but does have the right of vote(iirc, Chairman or some such title). So, it's an even split if he decides to cast one in favor of the PGA.

Yeah, that’s PGA of America director John Lindert. But Monahan has stated that the players will have a say in all decisions going forward.

Not sure why he’s never voted and everything I’ve read has the board now at 6-5 players. But he is mentioned and has the right to vote. More importantly the players will have a final say regarding the LIV deal.
