The real problem with the rule is not so much that you must sign the scorecard, but if it's incorrect, you can (today) lose up to/over $3M from that mistake.
And that is just not part of the game of golf, imo. Or is it "tradition' to be able to/want to DQ someone?
With all the electronic boards/computers/etc. the Tour has on every site, why are the hole by hole scores not posted when the players walk into the scoring tent, for comparing immediately? They know exactly who is walking in and when. And if they do not already know the players' scores, how do they DQ them for signing something incorrect?
But, give the players more money, do not, whatever you do, spend it where it would count. For all players.
I think my thoughts here are validated by what happened this week in Puerto Rico.
