Still pretending to be housebound. Could actually get out and drive if I needed to, but don't need to. There is a light at the end of my tunnel after another day of snow today though. Gonna have baked potatoes and vegetable soup for supper tonight.

Have been lucky here in Oklahoma to only have lost power for 1hr yesterday. Thought it was a scheduled blackout, but I got an email from the electric company that it was just an area outage. Luckily the electric company has a large presence in my town. Haven't lost power at all since then. I have however been running a fever since yesterday morning......Haven't been around any other people since a grocery trip on Saturday.

All the clinics are closed right now due to weather, so probably can't get tested till tomorrow hopefully. Luckily once the Ibuprofen kicks in I feel just fine other then a little throat mucus. As of right now the wife and kid have no symptoms. Holding out hope this isn't Covid.

Dufferman Hope all goes well and you start feeling better soon. Don't know what's happening in OK, but you folks are usually a day ahead of us weather-wise and it looks like we're clearing out late tomorrow if the forecast is any good.

I awoke to the sound of rushing water. Thought it was a burst pipe.

Fortunately, it was just the sound of all the faucets churning out drippage.

Really hoping we don't get the burst pipe experience so many others have experienced.

Have dripped the pipes for years when it gets cold. That This Old House YouTube clip was pretty interesting in showing PSI difference drip vs. no drip. Our water bill may be double or triple but as long as it isn't 10-20k for burst pipe repair it'll be worth it. A buddy of mine had a 20k repair years ago up in Wisconsin.

Weirfan We almost had that at a townhouse we were renting almost 30 years ago. The owners said valve leading to the garage faucet was off when we moved in, but clearly it was not. Luckily we got home right after it burst and I shut the water off or my wife's car might have looked like that lol. That place had zero insulation and electric heat; thankfully we were young and didn't get cold back then!

A buddy of mine in California has his mom and sisters living in Austin. His sis' apartment was flooded with water. She had to leave it due to no power and was staying with friends. Went back to check on it, and found a foot of water inside.

Our faucets aren't dripping they're running. We're doing everything we can and it still might not be enough.

BTW, our power intervals are exceeding more than 60 minutes of up time before 12 minutes of down time. Best it's been since blackouts started. Easier to cook things, now. Not fun racing the 11 minute clock. Looks like an hour of up time, followed by 12 minutes of down time.

House is as warm as it's been. Good to allow the heat to run a lot longer and more often.

iirc, someone said the reasons for the power crappings is because Texas thumbed it's nose at the Feds. If correct, FEMA is not going to be setting foot in that state for this problem now. Unless, Joe(Kamala) order them to do so.

Across the river, Davenport, Ia., will flood like hell downtown, when flood seasons hit....😆every 100 years. FEMA used to come in and do their thing, until 'every 100 years' became every 2-3 years. They told them to build a floodwall.....got noses thumbed at them. Next flood, told them to build a floodwall....again with the thumbing. FEMA said you will do it, or don't call us again......damages can be prevented.

No doubt this is a major black eye for Texas and rightfully so, but the schedenfreude is low class and unbecoming unless you're a douche bag and insecure and smug.

Just sickening. Same kind of crap when the other side was revelling in the rolling blackouts during California's heat. The polarization has to stop.

People are losing lives in Texas. Some are glorying in the fact that Texas looks bad all because Texas is a particular "color" on a political map. Now, if it was a different color we may have others glorying over that fact. That crap has to end. This is about people's suffering and death and anyone regardless of their worldview is a sick SOB for taking pleasure in watching this happen to people.

I was honestly not intending either, just speaking of what and why they are without power. Perhaps everyone else here knew of their unique arrangement, it was the first time I had . I hope they come up with a back up plan for the future.

we are similarly independent of Federal management , it is all handled by each Province ( same as at a State level) we do pay dearly though.

as Rex says hopefully disaster relief is available if needed.
