Shot a 5/8 inch grouping at 50 yards. 17HMR ammo. Was a little wind and not my usual brand of ammo. It's a 17 caliber rim fire cartridge. 2550 feet per second. Basically a 22 magnum rim fire necked down to .17 and hopped up a little bit. Haven't shot for a while. A little low at that range do to the trajectory. Launch angle and angle of attack were good and I kept the turn to a minimum! Shot 10 minutes before posting.
meagain nice! Pistol, rifle??
meagain I'd rather see the gun than the ammo. Never heard of the caliber except for a . 177 pellet.
Walterjn Rifle with scope. Pretty tough to shoot a group like that if not impossible with a pistol especially at 50 yards. Had a little "draw" on a couple of the shots. Does Ping make a rifle? Wanted to shoot my AR-15, but the cost of ammo kills all the fun of it.
meagain does the sound it makes when you hit the steel target @ 100 yards count??
Thought about golf...still about 12" of snow in the yard. The snow shot a 2 today and then the rain stopped by and shot a 1.
Played with the Mrs today at our sister course. 10 strokes worse than yesterday. Couldn't hit a bull in the a$$ with a bass fiddle...

There's bulls on your course? And you carry a bass fiddle? 😉
CallMeAl Which course is your sister course?
Mattyv I need to hit the range and work on my short game.
Where the hell would you find time, with that slave driver wife of yours?😉😉😉
LBlack14 a few years ago, some knucklehead at Hornady got the idea to wildcat rimfire cartridges. So they necked down the .22 magnum to .177 (pellet gun size), they called that the HMR. The little cartridge is extremely accurate, and lightning fast. They also took the .22lr, and necked that down to .177 and called it the HM2.
LBlack14 Here is the rifle:
Walterjn Never heard of the HM2 until you mentioned it. Kind of a weird round I would think. Probably a lot quieter than the HMR, which is quite loud with a nice crack to it. Back in my high school years (when schools were schools) I used to take the large Shooters Bible and gun magazines to school and study all the calibers and the ballistics of them. Times were different then (no school shootings and such). Kids with pickups had the gun racks in their back windows with guns on them in the school parking lots for going hunting after school. Now having a picture of a gun will get you expelled.
meagain my .22 mags. Like yours, the Single 6 has 2 cylinders, 22LR and 22 Magnum.
meagain You probably haven't read this, or heard it, so I will relate it for you....guns kill people. 😨🤣😁
meagain it is a lot quieter about the same report as a .22. I used to do the same in Jr. high. Guns & ammo and the like. Then again, my local high school used to have shooting lessons in the old gym using .22lr at 10-15 yards. Targets were placed in front of specially built bullet traps so no damage was done to the building.
Par4QC Any example of that you can provide I would like to see.
Par4QC guns by themselves don't kill people. Guns in the hands of bad (however you want to define bad) people kill people. If not for guns people would still be killing people. What they would use would just be different, knives, hammers, axes, cars; anything can be a deadly weapon it just depends on who is wielding it and what their intentions are.
meagain It's what is said on TV, every day, around here. Now personally, I have never seen a gun walking around, but it must be so. I used to get scared in Walmart & Dick's, walking close to the gun aisle, thinking one might break the glass and start rampaging. 😁
Walterjn It's why I keep all hammers in the metal toolboxes. I don't want them to be the next judged, or restricted.
Walterjn I also own a regular 22LR -rifle with scope. It shoots very well, but not as cool to shoot as the HMR. I do need to start shooting it some as I have 2000 or so rounds to shoot up before old age renders me incapable. Have the 22 rifle, a Ruger, Luger type 22 auto with the heavy bull barrel and a Stainless Ruger 22-22 mag 6 1/2 barrel single 6. Has interchangeable cylinders for reg 22LR or 22 Mag. Have 2 .380 Auto pistols and 2 9mm pistols, plus many shotguns and rifles.
