Funny story about my league play last week. This league is a 2 man scramble and scoring is figured as points for each hole based on results (2 pts for par, 3 pts for bird, 5 for eagle, and so on).
My regular partner couldn’t make it so I got a sub to play. The sub is well known as being a very good player, but is really no better than my normal teammate. But as you can imagine I was given a lot of grief over brining in a “ringer”.
The 2nd hole we play is a 100ish yd par 3 over water to a very narrow sloped green. I hit first and put one on the green. My partner (the ringer) steps up, drops one 2 feet behind the hole, and it goes in! It was his first in over 50 years of playing golf.
To make it sweeter a hole in one is worth 10pts in our league, we play a skins game, and closest to the hole on every par 3. This along with our other 3 birds moved us from 5 down in 2nd place to 5 up in 1st. Should be interesting at league tomorrow. 😎
