Today was the second and final day of the member-member tournament. We played better ball. I shot 76 with only 30 putts. I putted great for the past two days. My swing was slowly disintegrating as the round went on. It was basically AWOL on the last two holes, as in I had no idea how to swing a club, but I scraped and scratched for two bogies to finish.
My partner struggled. He was under-clubbing all day, and couldn't get his putts to the hole either. On a gross basis he only bailed me out on one hole, but on a net basis he got a few holes. We effed up the par fives pretty badly. The one we did well on, we both birdied and both had strokes so one was wasted, lol.
I just realized, for the tourney he was playing ProV1s. He usually plays 2 piece balls. That might be why his irons were coming up short all the time! The 2 piecers fly longer off the irons, in my experience.
The icing on the cake is that we won 2nd place gross and net in our flight. (We only get paid for one of them.) And we bought our team in the calcutta auction. Between the prize money and the calcutta money we stand to net a few hundred bucks each.
Wheeeeee! 🙂
(It is not a big money calcutta. Our team sold for $275. Most of our flight sold for 200 or 225. That's big enough for me. I don't know what I'd do at a club where teams sell in the thousands.)
I made a few parimutuel bets on other teams to win, place or show in the overall event, not flighted. I have a show bet for a 4th flight team that did finish third overall. I don't know the show odds. The win odds for them were 46 to 1. I hope I get enough to pay for the other bets, haha.
Awards dinner tonight. The menu is garlic-infused garlic, covered with garlic sauce. (I hate garlic, and it hates me. And it's in every effing thing nowadays. Especially at our club grill.)
