Played a Private course called Ancala County Club yesterday. I shot 51-48 barely keeping it under 100. This is one of the hardest, tightest desert courses I have ever played. Played 6300 yards with a 134 slope. My swing was fine on the range but that didn't transition to the course. I couldn't get off the tee to save my life. I had six 7's on my card. I had a stretch from hole 7-14:where I played decent, including sticking a tee shot on a 130 yrd par 3 to 3 feet and made birdie. On top of or maybe contributing to the shitty play was about 17 billion gnats on every f'ing hole. I have never dealt with them on a course in AZ before.
I didn't get to give my new DBM irons a fair shot as the most popular club for me was my desert 7 iron. I had so many f'ed up lies in the desert. I played one shot from a bush with my ball elevated 18 inches above the ground. My best drive of the day was on a par 5 7th hole. Tee marker said 275 yards to the Arroyo and of course I crush my drive straight as an arrow 285 yards and end up in the rocks. That course beat my ass yesterday. It was a free round on a private course so I can't complain too much.
