A local guy was selling a Cleveland Classic 270, a full set of Wilson Deep Red irons and an Odyssey Crimson 550 putt for $20. I couldn't pass it up as I had always wanted to try the Cleveland driver but never had. And the putter is right up my alley as well.

Anyway, what were your thoughts on the 270 head? I played a DTG ultra light head for a while until the crown busted and hit it really well. Looking forward to giving it a go if we get some decent weather on a weekend soon. It is shafted with I a Miyazaki 39R. I assume that means 39grams and Regular. It doesn't feel very noodly to me, so hopefully it will work out ok.

Always wanted a Cleveland classic and never pulled the trigger. I probably would go 290. Anxious to see how you think it plays.

Tinker Suppose to hit 60 tomorrow but rain chances. If the rain holds off I might head to the range to pound some balls. I haven't played since the time change so no telling what the swing will be like!

I liked the faux wood finish and deep face. Great look. Never hit one.

Dufferman Anyway, what were your thoughts on the 270 head?

I could be wrong, but I believe the whole club is 270 grams including the grip & shaft. The head is
      not considered an ultralight. Grip = 30g/ shaft 39g approx. so head = 195 - 200g ??? Anyone have
      the real specs ?

Eguller I wasn't sure, all I know is that the club feels light and the shaft is pretty stiff which made me assume the head must be lower weight.

Looking online I couldn't find an actual head weight, just what you mentioned in a difference in grip and shaft weight. The grip isn't in great shape, but I will hit it like it is before doing any modifications.

I think the grip is a special size also, but not sure - large butt maybe.

I had one a few years ago. I loved the head, hated the shaft. Too noodly for me back then, may be a better fit now that my swing speed has gone down. Yes, the r does stand for regular flex. I had Cleveland fairways with Miyazaki shafts in reg and they didn’t work for me either. I may still have those stored away somewhere.

The Cleveland Classic 270 is one of the longest drivers I’ve ever hit. I had the 12* with a regular flex 43g shaft. Great feel and man it was long. But I sold it for some reason. Not sure why. So I recently bought a 270 at 12* but with a 39r shaft which is senior flex. Make sure you check the international code flex for the shaft. I didn’t and have a driver that is too flexible for my swing. I'd sell it if anyone is interested.

Yep. Normal head weight, light shaft and light grip. Can always pull and reshaft.....pretty sure they are .350.

ode Thanks for the graphic, couldn't find anything like that when I searched. I'm real curious how the shaft plays. My swing speed is probably 105+, curious to see how it works! I've had success with softer shafts in drivers in the past, probably due to my angle of attack. Too stiff brings the ball flight way too low.

Had it. Loved the look and feel but the whole setup of it was too light for me, thus uncontrollable. Well worth a try, if it suits your tempo and swing.

This might work for my 82 year old friend in Florida. Price with shipping?

Tried the 290, wanted it, but price was too much for the shaft choices at the time. That thing was hooottttt.

I will call him today and find out. Is the headcover included in case he asks and I assume the head is in good shape.
