Eguller The last generation 'Hubbie' on tour putted one handed for a while. This one is ... out there.
Spuzz The snail LOL He was missing the cut with whatever stroke he was using. I appreciate the levity from someone going home right after that. π
MartinD A slightly unusual grip for me - left hand high (i.e. standard) with left forefinger down the outside of the right fingers, left middle finger interlocking with the right middle finger. (My current putter has a Ping PP58 (Ping Man) blackout grip, for what it's worth.)
fatshot Longer putts = traditional, reverse overlap grip, left index finger overlaps righthand fingers. Short putts (10 feet/less) = left hand low, with left index finger extended down the shaft. Weird, I know, but it works for me!
LBlack14 fatshot traditional, reverse overlap grip, left index finger overlaps righthand fingers. This. Did he putt the whole round like that or was it a 1 time deal?
Walterjn I'm just beginning so maybe it will change, I grip the putter the same way I do all the other clubs.
Spuzz Walterjn I'm just beginning so maybe it will change, I grip the putter the same way I do all the other clubs. No time like the present. That grip is the opposite of what you want to happen. Ditch it now and avoid the bad habit and grief it will cause you. π
fatshot LBlack14 ""Did he putt the whole round like that or was it a 1 time deal?"" I putted the traditional way, as I described, for my whole life. In the last 4-5 years I went to cross-handed on short putts only b/c my left wrist breaks down and I pull putts otherwise.
Spuzz Walterjn then HOW should I hold my putter?? See above: tour or traditional grip (same thing) https://www.youtube.com/watch/Niu2VkBZ384
MartinD Spuzz See above: tour or traditional grip (same thing) https://www.youtube.com/watch/Niu2VkBZ384 Interesting to watch this for me - my left hand grip (with putter and for other clubs) has the club running from the knuckle of my forefinger diagonally across my hand to the outside middle of my palm, so effectively in between the putter grip and 'normal shot' grip that Leadbetter demonstrates in the video. I tried the putter grip as demonstrated, and it feels completely different - the hands naturally sit a lot higher, and it feels like the wrists are almost totally removed from the stroke. This may be something to have a closer look at...
