Never thought I'd get one, but sure glad I did!
About 4 mos. ago we get a mailer from Home Serve with our gas bill explaining how expensive
a water main failure/repair can get.
Our concrete driveway is 40 x 80 with the main running pretty much the full length of it.
I'm thinking hell for a measly $7.48 a month (cancel at any time), what do I have to lose?
Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, my wife notices some water seeping in around the
sewer line that goes thru the shore wall in the basement....I thought crap it was ANOTHER
sewer line problem.
Nope water main leaking outside near the sprinkler siphon valve box.
The people before me had planted an ornamental bush near the front entry way,
that got huge and the roots had damaged part of the water line.
So I called Home Serve, explained the situation, they contacted a local plumber they use and the leaked got
fixed. They had to remove the bush, do a bunch of digging, replace the blow back valve and some PVC.
The warranty co. DID drag their feet a bit because the bid from the plumber was pretty high...a few grand.
But with my persistent bitching at one of their supervisors, bid got approved and plumbing job got completed!
Best $7.48 per month I've ever spent!
