I don’t get this with my normal irons.... These are my home made Wishon 752 single length irons. Apparently I should be playing shafts like these DG...

Was it you, or maybe @fatshot , who sent me a SF i80? It’s a high performance shaft compared to most of what I’ve tried. But it’s stout.

Don - what flex was the i80 you tried?

Regular. Which is what I usually play. I could handle it but it sort of made me swing harder, the way stiff shafts sometimes do. The ballflight was strong.

you need to find some lighter weight graphite shafts with a similar balance points as the steel shafts you were hitting.

Those play more like a Firm towards stiff. You may have been happy with the A (senior) flex. Same with the MMT.

The issue with graphite is always heavier weights in the weaker flexes are not offered. When your mid-iron SS is say high 60's with a early to mid release and transition time of more than 1 sec. all that you can find is the 60g maybe 70g if you are lucky. Nothing above 70g with a decent balance point you will not find.

I use less than 1.0 as quick, 1.0 - 1.2 medium anything above 1.3 as smooth. You have to couple these with mid-iron SS and release early, mid, late. You can use video and get your release and most are not honest in critiquing their swing takes on outside opinion and help. Doing these three swing fitting factors along with the equipment part of it will get your where you need to be without all the bells and whistles of launch monitors. In my reality most fitters that use LM's outdoors don't charge enough to pay for a $15k LM or more hence It's more cheating the numbers and selling/marketing than real fitting indoors IMO.

Thank you Scott. I agree that most people either have no idea or lie to sound cool. Most people it seems like to tell everyone they have an aggressive transition... well one or 2 forums are full of those people anyway.

I know I’m 1.2-1.3 with an mid/early release. No shame in that. It’s funny when someone who has no idea watches me they say Wow you really kill it, you have a ton of lag... but when I was fit for my driver a few years ago Frank told me I have a very smooth powerful swing, which proves people have no clue and recklessly keep buying.

The Mizuno optimizer was pretty good as well for irons since I was never fit for irons. Back then my iron shaft selection was all over the place because of my early/mid release.
