Listen to what other geezers are using Steve not the long ball youngsters. If you ain't over 65 you aren't gonna know. 😁 I am with Rick if price is not an object Snell MTB-X is the one that I found perceptibly longer. Goes back to the MGS study done a little while ago. A long ball is not soft. If found the urethane cover on the MTB-X make it feel softer though it's higher compression. MTB-X's are harder but don't feel like rocks either. Plus if you make center flush contact more often compression doesn't mean as much as far as "feel".

Snell MTB-X - I put these in play this summer and got distance increase that was noticeable to my playing buds. They actually looked at the ball on the ground to see what I was playing. It seems to penetrate the wind well also. It doesn't have great checking on the greens but tolerable. It actually has a nice crisp feel off of the driver as well. I have gotten the best deals on these from the Snell website.

I don’t hit the ball very far. I’m probably in the same range as you speed wise. Strangely, the best distance ball I played last year was the Srixon Z Star. Not sure why, but when we’ll struck they just went further than expected.

FYI - After playing the Wilson Staff FG Tours for years , I’ve tried many new golf balls last year and couldn’t get used to new golf balls off of the putter.

While the Z Star was a revelation off the driver, didn’t like it off the putter. Therefore the ball search continues.

toraider Z-Star had been the most consistently long for me, but recently I've found the TP5 to be even longer. Haven't tried too many low spin balls lately that gave me any distance advantage, but when younger the Dunlop LoCo was the longest for me. I don't know if there is a modern equivalent, but I think it had more to do with dimples or other construction than did the low compression property. The soft Srixons and Callaways were both shorter than Z-Stars for me. Not sure what my driver speed is, but my average standard drive this year was around 230 yards.

Same with me. Its like asking can you get there with a 5 iron to which I reply...eventually!!
For my swing speed the ball makes little difference

These are on my list to try. I hit all the X balls longer . Pro V1x, TP5x, etc which seems counterintuitive to my SS, but as Scotts posted that Mygolfspy test says it's true for ALL SS's.

Spuzz I know how the old golfer ball feels. Z Stars are much firmer. After playing a ball for 5+ years, muscle memory is hard to adjust.
