mulegolf I guess it's our turn for winter today. I looked at the temperature at 0830 this morning and it was 18°. At noon it was 9°. It's started snowing heavily now and we are looking for 4+" of snow here with 5"-10" toward the twin cities. The forecast says we should get wind gusts as high as 60 mph. Right now it's holding steady at 39 mph and gusting to 53 mph so they're probably going to be correct. I was out to pick my car up from getting an oil change a bit ago and the snow is mixed with sleet/snow pellets. The high wind tossing that around makes it actually hurt when it hits your face. This system is supposed to cut across Minnesota SW to NE and cut across western Ontario so you guys out east will probably miss most of this one. I'd hate to be on the road now because earlier my wife and I were out there following a semi and the wind was sliding his trailer onto the shoulder of the road then and it's quite a bit windier now.
d5n03 mulegolf That storm is creeping over to here (Des Moines area). 20 degrees right now & dropping, winds 25 with gusts to 36. Started snowing a couple of hours ago. Snow crews have started to brine the roads. Forecast is for up to 1 inch of snow, will see if they are correct on this.
Par4QC 63 today, right now, 18. Going under zero w/c before morning. High of 17 for tomorrow. Guess we'll stay in, again.
KCee Supposed to be pretty warm here the next couple of days. In the 50's, but still a lot of snow to melt. Was surprised we got a call from Eversource yesterday warning about the high winds and how we might lose power. I can't remember them ever calling before lol.
sdandrea1 62 here today with heavy rain tonight. High temp will be in the 30s on Christmas day. Heading back to FL on Sunday. 🕶️
mulegolf LogicalOne We're close but we are usually a few degrees colder than the Sioux Falls area. Only one degree this morning (-5°). Our wind chill (feels like) temp is -24°. I guess it's time to go outside and get the snow off of the sidewalks and driveways. That's always fun when the wind is blowing it back into your face.
Mattyv LogicalOne How the hell do you guys in the North live with such temperatures! I think it is fun to visit the snow and cold for a day or two. I can't imagine having to deal with it on a daily basis.
Typhoon mulegolf I feel for ya.... wind blows in one direction even when it seems there is no wind. I get out there with the snowblower and have to contort my body to get the snowblower down the driveway while turned away from the snow blowing in my face.
Spuzz Warmish and rain for today and turning into cold and snow overnight. The worst kind of transition here. Luckily, no driving tonight.
