RIP Peter Alliss. I enjoyed listening to his commentary.

RIP. Calm and soothing style was nice to hear.

He was the best. Venturi not far behind.

The golfing world has lost "One Of The Greats"....

RIP Mr. Alliss

He was one of my favorite announcers. RIP.

heard the meaning of "hit the ball Allis" on leaving a putt short on the Paulson show on Sirius radio yesterday. It seems Peter was playing Arnold in a 60's Ryder cup match and P A left a putt short and hence---hit the ball allis

yes indeed it does. The common golf misconception = many incorrectly think it is to mean Alice is gets corrected on golf forums every so often. It came up on FGI a few times .

Yep assumed it was Alice......we have a buddy who is notorious for leaving it short so my regular group uses his initials when leaving a putt short. You **'d it๐Ÿ˜‚.

there are some other sexist and no longer appropriate golfisms used for leaving putts short ...."buckle that bra strap" " does your husband play" " hit it like a man" etc
