Typhoon My putters are fit to me... 32.75”, 4 degrees loft and my slight arc swing. No frills set up, club is soled. I feel comfortable... I just suck 😁

What I was referring to was specs like head weight which I think is the most critical factor in finding the right putter fit.

Rickochet I don't care about the specs. I "feel". If that is not there, it's not going to be in my bag. I don't care the weight, nor the length, or shaft bend, if any. It must swing back/forward in a straight line, without wobble. That's the 'specs' on my putter. I cannot even tell you the weight of what I've been using.

For most "normal" folk, the feel and the weight (swingweight included) are almost the same (aside from the strike itself) so it's important.

I am wondering if johnnydoom is having this issue with his poor lag putting?
Maybe his current putter is too heavy and on long putts, with a longer backstroke, he hammers it due to his old putter likely being light?
or maybe his current putter is too light and his stroke is forced?
(for me, this used to be my issue and on fast greens it got worse)
I also consider myself an above average putter and I use a heavy head.

Played last week and made 2 longish putts which is a lot for me. Problem is I made one putting with my wedge because I didn’t feel like going back to the cart and getting my putter. It’s just a hand to eye coordination thing. Forget mechanical and just pick a line and roll it. Putter doesn’t matter.

About ten years ago as a winter project I did a lot of tinkering with putters. What I found (for me) was that the head weight was the most critical factor. Too light and it caused directional issues and too heavy distance issues. And toss in shaft length and where you grip on the longer putter grips all factors in. Lots of variables that can make a good putter not perform. However most just grab one off the rack, use it if it works, if not get another.

I am a very good putter and when I am really putting well I don't think about a thing when I am standing over the putt. I just look at it, pick a line, and then just get up there and strokes the putt. I don't think about distance at all.... never have. I just try to put a smooth roll on the ball and start it on my intended line. That's it.

Late summer I used a face-on and haven't looked back. Doubt I will go back to traditional the way I left it. Makes to much sense to me.

Was it because of his usage or a club issue such as non compliance regarding shaft bends?

Bravopilot Cleeve face-on SmartPutter is legal. 80* lie angle and standing to the side of the thru line. No locking to body unlike the broom guys on the Champions tour. Both hands on putter grip free swing with hands.

USGA pooh poohed DeChambeau cuz he was locked. Personally I don't see any difference to DeChambeau's try at face-on locked than arm bar locked that he uses now.

Rickochet All articles I found seem to indicate the club was non-conforming but nothing from USGA --apparently USGA doesn't comment publicly when deemed non-conforming for manufacture sake (confidentiality agreements??). So, not sure.

scotts33 Thanks for the response. Hard to tell myself it works form 30+ft out, especially on the munis I play--not fast/smooth greens at times. Looks very good from short range I at times struggle with. I see he also sells a putter (2 actually) but I assume any mallet style will work on this set up. Interesting, believe you mentioned this before but forgot about it. Thanks for the info.

I'll bet Sam Snead would have like this club. Looking at both videos again I noticed that Bryson's right hand is turned much more toward the left than the Cleeve vid. It kind of looks like he is giving it a back handed slap. I would think a grip with the right hand rotated more clock wise with the thumb joint "v" toward the target would feel more comfortable.
